Ralph Waldo Emerson On Being Yourself

Today’s quote comes from the writer Ralph Waldo Emerson. In it, he describes how special it truly is to simply be yourself. Every day, the world is going to try and tell you how to act and how to think. Overcoming these influences, and staying true to yourself, is in of itself, an achievement. Many people lose this ability, and instead just follow the crowd. If you can learn to resist this, and instead follow your own path, you can consider yourself a success, no matter what else may happen.

So think about what it is you care about, or what it is you really want to do. Do you feel like the world is conspiring against you, trying to force you into doing something else? If so, this might be a signal that you are on the right path. Stay true to yourself, and you will achieve more than most.
